Raleigh Full Lifeguard Class 2.22-2.23

This is a full lifeguard training class will run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 22nd and Sunday, February 23rd at St. Mary’s School in Raleigh. Students must pass the below prerequisites on the first day of class.
- Students must be 15 years old by the start of the course.
- Students must complete an online portion before attending the in-person portion of class. Students will be expected to come prepared with a printed copy of certificate of completion for the online portion. The online portion consists of 16 modules, expected to take about 8 hours. This portion of class must be completed before arriving to class on Saturday.
- You must jump into the water fully submerge and resurface and swim 150 yards using freestyle or breaststroke. Then you must tread water for 2 minutes without the use of your hands and then swim 50 yards using freestyle or breaststroke. (Swim Goggles allowed)
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed: Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface in order to breathe (or to get a breath). Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
You will need to bring the following to class.
- Pencil and paper to take notes
- Swimsuit and goggles (optional)
- Packed lunch and snacks
- Water bottle
- Towel and a change of clothes
