The Pool Professionals team is proud to announce that our President and CEO, Dave Harvey, was recently designated as a Certified Building Professional (CBP) by the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals. This selective accreditation requires a minimum five years of Aquatic Industry experience and 24 hours of recent continuing education credits, and culminates in a three hour examination. It is designed to recognize excellent business ethics and a commitment to the highest standards of workmanship and construction.
Dave traveled to Las Vegas for a review course prior to the examination. He reports that the test “was as challenging as any college course that I have taken”, and credits his thorough preparation for his passing grade. Luckily he brought noise cancelling head phones to drown out the Mandalay Bay pool party going on while he was studying! The closed book examination only has a 60% pass rate, and covers topics from site excavation and concrete pouring to electrical bonding and other safe construction practices.
After returning from the course, Dave took some time to reflect on his experience:
“The most important thing that I learned in the program is that for us to remain a leader in pool management, we need to be well versed in all facets of pool construction and maintenance, and be well versed in national pool construction standards. Likewise, we need to be partners with our pool equipment manufacturers to ensure that we are leading with new technology and the best safety practices available.”
Pool Professionals is an industry leader in part due to our commitment to continuing education for all of our staff. President Dave Harvey’s recent completion of the CBP designation exemplifies that commitment and sets an example for the entire company to follow. Congratulations again to Dave!
